Position Summary

As a Police Recruit, you will undergo training at the police academy, where you will learn essential skills to protect life and property, deter criminal behavior, and enforce local, state, and federal laws.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary of $57,200, with an additional $3,000 hiring incentive.
  • Increased starting salary of $60,060 for candidates with a four-year degree, plus a $3,000 hiring incentive.
  • Promotion to Police Officer upon successful completion of the academy, typically within six months.
For Current POST Certified Officers

Position Responsibilities

The primary goal of this role is to ensure public safety through various law enforcement activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in training sessions to acquire knowledge of department operations and law enforcement protocols.
  • Enforcing applicable laws and regulations to safeguard the community.
  • Patrolling assigned areas to detect and deter criminal activity.
  • Conducting preliminary investigations and gathering evidence.
  • Responding to emergencies and providing assistance as needed.
  • Maintaining positive relations with the public and educating them on safety and law enforcement.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and be at least 20 years old. Previous work experience is preferred. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Background Check

All candidates will undergo a thorough background investigation, including checks through the Georgia Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center. Past infractions will be evaluated individually.

Training Requirements

All recruits will attend a training academy and participate in an on-the-job field training program. The training is rigorous and requires passing multiple assessments.

Work Environment

This position requires working in various weather conditions and may involve shifts that include nights and weekends. Officers will patrol assigned areas in a squad car.
