Job Title: Relay Settings and Automation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Relay Settings and Automation Engineer to join our team at Leidos Engineering Inc. in Framingham, MA. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in leading and designing Relay Settings and Automation projects, interacting with other electric utility disciplines, and contributing to our company's success.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in power system or communication engineering, and a proven track record of working with high voltage electrical utility substation protection and control engineering. You will be responsible for solving challenging substation engineering problems, working with design engineers and performing quality reviews, and configuring IED and data concentrators for substation and distribution automation devices.

Responsibilities:
  • Solving challenging substation engineering problems
  • Working with design engineers and performing quality reviews
  • Configuring IED and data concentrators for substation and distribution automation devices
  • Configuring communication for Ethernet and serial communications in substations
Requirements:
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with communication devices HMI, SCADA, and RTU
  • Experience with implementation of different communication protocols (e.g., DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850 MMS, and GOOSE)
  • Control and protection schemes including the preparation of schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Experienced with calculation of relay settings for microprocessor relays
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ASPEN and CAPE for coordination studies and fault study analysis
  • Previous Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations
  • Team player who can work effectively in a team environment
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of computer competency
