Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Child Life Specialist to join our team at Westchester Medical Center. The successful candidate will provide psychosocial support to pediatric patients and their families, promoting coping and adaptation in the face of illness, injury, or hospitalization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' developmental needs and provide individualized interventions to promote coping and adaptation.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers on illness, diagnosis, treatment, and coping techniques.
  • Facilitate group and individual play activities to promote normalization, development, and learning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in child life, psychology, recreation, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Child Life Specialist by the Child Life Council or eligibility for certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
