Water Well Production Technician

Job Summary

Maintain consistent water well production capabilities and ensure the safe and efficient operation of groundwater treatment plants. This role involves inspecting, operating, and maintaining equipment, performing routine testing and operation of water disinfection equipment, and maintaining well field roads, gates, and cattle guards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pull and set water well pumps as needed
  • Perform necessary piping installation and repairs of water collection lines, flow meters, and valves
  • Operate disinfection equipment and accurately calculate proper chemical dosage and adjust well production requirements
  • Maintain well field roads, cattle guards, and pump station grounds
  • Operate SCADA system for all system components
  • Perform as part of an on-call rotation
  • Perform other assigned duties as required
Requirements
  • Completion of high school or its equivalent with an additional one year experience in the operation and maintenance of water plant and equipment
  • Physical Exam Required
  • Must be able to acquire CDL or Class B Permit within one year from date of hire
  • Class D Water license issued by TCEQ or ability to obtain within one year from date of hire, with ability to obtain Class C Ground Water license within 3 years
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of water treatment and water well field operations
  • Knowledge of industrial safety and sanitary requirements of potable water supply systems
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment skillfully and safely
  • Ability to perform maintenance and service work on trucks and heavy equipment
  • Ability to make field repairs
  • Ability to operate various power tools
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to monitor and control treatment plant equipment
  • Ability to prepare reports and interpret written instructions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard
  • Ability to perform duties in noisy working conditions
  • Ability to properly use self-contained breathing apparatus
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees
  • Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing
  • Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement to operate a vehicle
  • Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height
  • Frequently walk and stand during the shift
  • Occasionally climb ladders and frequently climb stairs
