Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sleep Technologist to join our team at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. As a Sleep Technologist, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, as well as associated interventions, under the general supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist (RST) and/or the clinical director (MD, PhD, DO) or designee.

Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to ensure proper functioning.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
  • Perform appropriate physiologic calibration to ensure proper signals.
  • Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention.
  • Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to center-specific protocols.
  • Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a registered sleep technologist (RST) or by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as a registered technologist (RPSGT).
  • Maintains licensure of registered nurse, licensed professional nurse, or respiratory care practitioner in the state of Illinois.
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography (Respiratory Therapy, END).
  • Current BLS required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years' experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge in comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis, and associated interventions preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The Sleep Technologist must be able to work effectively in a team setting and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
