POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves planning, organizing, and executing a suitable instructional program for middle school students. The educator will create a learning atmosphere that motivates and supports students in realizing their academic potential. The position operates under the guidance of the instructional coach and principal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, prepare, and deliver engaging lesson plans and instructional resources that promote active learning.
- Develop comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments in line with established guidelines.
- Guide and supervise students in utilizing learning materials and equipment effectively.
- Incorporate relevant technology to enhance and tailor instruction.
- Manage classroom behavior by establishing and upholding rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline according to the school's rules and disciplinary framework.
- Support and track the progress of individual students, using insights to refine teaching strategies.
- Keep accurate and thorough records of students' progress and development.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is updated accurately and in compliance with legal, district, and school regulations.
- Prepare required reports on student performance and activities.
- Engage in department, school, district, and parent meetings, conferences, and ceremonies.
- Communicate essential information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
- Set clear objectives for all learning activities and establish Teaching and Learning Smart Goals.
- Provide a diverse range of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
- Observe and assess students' performance and development.
- Assign and evaluate classwork, homework, tests, and projects.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate skill and preparation in working with students from varied cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
- Encourage involvement from parents and the community, responding promptly to inquiries and communications.
- Participate in relevant professional learning community activities.
- Engage in extracurricular activities such as social events, sports, clubs, and student organizations as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- B.A/B.S degree in education from an accredited institution or a related field.
- State certification in teaching for the appropriate subject area.
- Ability to foster and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in attendance.
- Capability to fulfill all related responsibilities required to achieve the objectives of the overall school program.
- Knowledge and application of relevant technology.
- Compliance with professional teacher education requirements set by the school, district, and state.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching at the middle school level (grades 5-8) with a strong focus on reading instruction. Experience working with diverse student populations and English Language Learners in an urban setting.
