We are currently seeking a School Counselor for the PHILLIPS ~ Laurel program, a distinguished private special education institution for children with diverse learning and behavioral needs. Supervision is available for those pursuing licensure.

Responsibilities of the School Counselor:

  • Collaborating with a dedicated team, the School Counselor provides both individual and group counseling to students, creating and implementing personalized therapeutic programs as part of each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Coordinating educational and counseling services with instructional staff and external agencies.
  • Building relationships and maintaining communication with families as necessary.
  • Documenting session notes, billing, and service trackers for each student on their caseload, along with writing quarterly progress reports.
  • Engaging with other staff regarding relevant case issues and providing consultation on counseling and family engagement.
  • Serving as a resource for counseling materials and techniques for teaching staff.
  • Assisting in the formulation of individualized educational and behavioral strategies for students in collaboration with their educational treatment teams.
  • Providing staff training as required.
  • Conducting verbal and formal assessments for mental health crisis situations as needed.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Clinical Master's degree or a State license in one of the following areas (Supervision available for those working towards licensure):

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • Licensed Master Social Worker
  • Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
  • Licensed Professional Counselor
