Automotive Service Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at the Disabilities Board of Charleston County. As a key member of our transportation services team, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing our fleet of vehicles to ensure the safety and well-being of our consumers and personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles, including oil changes, brake inspections, and tire service, to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Roadside Assistance: Respond promptly to roadside emergencies and vehicle incidents to ensure the safety of our consumers and personnel.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of our vehicles to identify any mechanical problems or issues that may impact safety.
- Diagnostic and Troubleshooting: Utilize diagnostic equipment to accurately troubleshoot mechanical problems and complete required documentation.
- Training and Development: Provide routine and specialized training for agency personnel on the safe operation of our vehicles and use of vehicle equipment.
- Work Environment: Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment that complies with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Reporting and Documentation: Complete required reports on a monthly basis as assigned by the Disabilities Board of Charleston County's Transportation Coordinator.
Requirements
- Performs vehicle repairs in accordance with established procedures and best practices on all systems of vehicles owned and/or operated by the Disabilities Board of Charleston County.
- Completes preventative maintenance to include regularly scheduled oil changes, brake inspections/service, vehicle tune-ups, tire service and fluid changes according to established guidelines.
- Provides prompt response to roadside emergency situations including but not limited to vehicle breakdowns and vehicular incidents and accidents.
- Provides/completes routine inspections of agency vehicles to identify mechanical problems or issues which may impact consumer and personnel safety.
- Utilizes diagnostic equipment and performs diagnostic functions to accurately troubleshoot mechanical problems as reported by agency personnel or identified through inspection.
- Completes required documentation of repairs made on agency vehicles and purchases made in the performance of duties in accordance with agency policy.
- Provides routine and specialized training for agency personnel in the safe operation of agency vehicles and use of vehicle equipment.
- Maintains a clean and hazard-free work environment which complies with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Attends appropriate training in order to enhance vehicle operating efficiency/safety within programs and services of the Disabilities Board of Charleston County.
- Completes required reports on a monthly basis as assigned by the Disabilities Board of Charleston County's Transportation Coordinator.
- Performs job duties in a safe manner by adhering to all applicable agency safety policies and established safety standards within the vehicle maintenance industry.
