Position Overview

The University Physicians Association is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at the Gastroenterology Department. This role is essential in providing comprehensive support within a dynamic specialty practice.

Employment Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES may encompass the following tasks, with additional duties assigned as necessary:

  • Address patient inquiries via telephone
  • Guide and educate patients regarding preparation for medical procedures
  • Manage prescription refill requests
  • Examine medical records for urgent needs and special considerations
  • Assist in the clinic by rooming patients and collecting necessary information for documentation
  • Coordinate with medical facilities to schedule patient tests
  • Deliver patient education as directed for procedure preparation
  • Assess and triage incoming clinical care calls, responding according to established protocols
  • Document patient interactions and maintain electronic medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Adhere to all operational policies and procedures related to appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and communication
  • Provide additional support to clinical services as required

Qualifications required for this position include:

  • CMA or LPN licensure
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records and related processes
  • Proficiency in computer systems and EMR documentation
  • Experience in addressing patient needs
  • BLS or ALS certification
