About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Senior to join our team at Proofpoint. As a key member of our Tax Department, you will play a critical role in managing our daily tax operations and ensuring compliance with all forms of tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with annual federal and state income tax compliance engagements, working closely with third-party consultants to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with our global tax team to complete income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Prepare monthly sales and indirect tax processes, managing sales tax compliance engagements with third-party consultants to minimize risk and maximize opportunities.
  • Complete other tax-related filings, such as business property tax, gross receipts filings, and annual reports, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Monitor transactions to identify potential areas of tax risk or tax opportunity, providing recommendations to optimize our tax strategy.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives, such as R&D studies, refund opportunities, census, and due diligence on potential acquisitions, as assigned.
  • Respond to notices from the IRS and state taxing authorities, ensuring prompt and accurate communication.
  • Conduct research on complex tax issues, providing recommendations to inform our tax strategy.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • CPA license is preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in either public accounting or a corporate tax department.
  • Experience working on corporate multinational companies.
  • Detailed understanding of corporate income tax compliance and accounting.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Flexibility to work with time constraints and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Base Pay Ranges:
SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area: $116,370.00 USD
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska: $96,240.00 USD
All other cities and states excluding those listed above: $87,060.00 USD
