Medical Physics Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Oncology Physicist to join our team at Stormont Vail Health. As a key member of our radiation oncology department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Review patient charts and treatment plans for completeness and accuracy.
- Acceptance, commissioning, and calibration of therapeutic radiation delivery systems and computerized treatment-planning systems.
- Supervise maintenance of equipment and work with manufacturers to facilitate repairs.
- Evaluate equipment for continued utility, appropriateness, and reliable performance, making recommendations for replacement.
- Maintain instrument calibration and implement new procedures and technology.
- Determine the need for and specify requirements of dosimetry and treatment-planning equipment.
- Design, implement, and maintain a thorough quality management program.
- Provide physics technical advice, support, and training to radiation staff.
- Oversee compliance with state and federal regulations and accepted technical standards related to radiation oncology and general radiation safety.
- Oversee accreditation compliance of radiation oncology through the American College of Radiology.
- Master's or doctoral degree in physics, biophysics, radiological physics, or health physics.
- One year of full-time training in therapeutic radiological physics.
- One year of full-time work experience under the supervision of a Radiation Therapy Physicist at a medical institution.
- Certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Roentgen-ray and Gamma-ray Physics.
- Registration with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as a provider of radiation services.
The physical demands of this job require regular sitting and talking or hearing, with occasional standing, walking, and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to use an appropriate lifting and transporting mechanism for objects weighing more than 25 pounds.
