Overview of the Callier Center

The Callier Center for Communication Disorders at the University of Texas at Dallas is dedicated to transforming the lives of those with communication disorders. The center provides leading-edge clinical services, conducts innovative research, and trains the next generation of clinical providers. As one of the nation's preeminent centers of treatment, training, and research, the Callier Center has been helping children and adults with speech, language, and hearing disorders connect with the world around them since 1963.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major and principal gift donors with an expected personal annual raise of $2M+
  • Manage a team of six employees and work collaboratively with peers in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations
  • Plan and execute a potential new capital campaign
  • Serve on the leadership team at the Callier Center, including attending weekly leadership team meetings
  • Responsible for departmental strategies, goals, policies, and controls, including budgeting, annual fundraising goals and projections, communication strategies, major and principal gift strategies, annual giving strategies, event strategies and execution, gift processing, stewardship, vendor procurement and management, gifts and endowment audits, donor impact reports, and leadership volunteer recruitment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of development experience in a nonprofit or university setting
  • Major and principal gift fundraising experience with a track record of securing transformational gifts
  • At least three years of management and leadership experience with proven ability to implement programs and drive results in a collaborative environment
  • Strategic planning skills with the ability to create and hone fundraising processes
  • Experience building a robust gift pipeline that aligns the needs of the unit with donor motivation and interests
  • Expertise in forging strong relations with external constituents as well as with internal constituents (faculty and staff)
  • Proficiency in cultivating and maintaining relationships with corporations and foundations with major giving capacity
  • Leadership experience with boards of trustees and other volunteer groups
  • Demonstrated experience with building teams and team culture, mentoring, and developing leadership capability
  • Outstanding speaking, writing, and time management skills
