About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialty Technician to join our team at Engineering Consulting Services, Ltd. in Charlotte. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing field observations and inspections, as well as conducting destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) on various construction materials.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field activities, including observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials, under the guidance of senior technicians and project managers.
  • Conduct routine observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, using various methodologies and testing equipment.
  • Collect and analyze data, perform calculations, and document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practices.
  • Maintain daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers, and attend project meetings as requested.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance professional skills and advance in the company.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have and be willing to maintain at least 2 specialty certifications from industry authorities.
  • Position requires carrying 40-70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and insurance, and provide suitable transportation for use on job sites.
  • Strong communication skills and sound working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles.
