About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialty Technician to join our team at Engineering Consulting Services, Ltd. in Charlotte. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing field observations and inspections, as well as conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) on structural steel and reinforcing steel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field activities, including observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials, under the guidance of senior technicians and project managers.
  • Conduct routine observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, using various methodologies and testing equipment.
  • Collect and analyze data, perform calculations, and maintain accurate records of findings.
  • Communicate effectively with site contractors, technicians, and project managers, and participate in project meetings as required.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance professional skills and advance in the company.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of related experience in construction materials, geotechnical, or non-destructive testing.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have and maintain at least 2 specialty certifications from industry authorities, such as NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASNT, and ASTM.
  • Ability to lift 85 lbs and perform work at heights.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and MS Office.
