Job Summary

SUNY Ulster, a public college in the State University of New York system located in the scenic Catskill Mountains, is seeking a highly qualified Human Resources Strategic Leader to join its team. This leadership position plays a critical role in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to Human Resources and Payroll.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Vice President for Administration and Finance to develop, implement, and monitor the annual operating budget.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Human Resources department and payroll operations, ensuring seamless integration and accurate employee records.
  • Manage compensation and employee benefits, including retiree health benefits, while ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Offer guidance and leadership to the Human Resources and Payroll Team, resolving human resources, compensation, and benefits concerns and/or issues.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to Human Resources and Payroll, as well as other operational departments under the supervision of the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of experience overseeing management and planning in human resources, payroll, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks under deadline pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Experience in governmental operations or higher education administration.
  • Experience with collective bargaining and labor relations.
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting and capital project development.
  • Human Resources Certification.
Compensation and Benefits

The initial starting salary will be $94,300 - $99,500 per academic year, commensurate with education, training, and experience.
