Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain standards and best practices for best-in-class deployments of our analytic tools at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
  • Orchestrate multiple large projects to deliver critical analytical tools and support for Alaska's Operations and HR divisions.
  • Facilitate OKR planning sessions, establish business impact scoring systems, and work with Business Intelligence, Data Science, and ITS leadership to identify commitments.
  • Track and communicate progress to goals and support removing barriers to success.
  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate into requirements.
  • Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert of Operations Analytics data products, usages, technical lineage, and business impact.
  • Promote our products through different community sites and internal events.
  • Maintain our data catalog, including customer-facing sites to reflect our products and showcase self-help documentation.
  • Manage data governance and data product lifecycle for Operations Analytics data products.
  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance.
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce redundancies and support single 'source of truth' for key metrics and data products.
  • Support Business Intelligence leadership with a management system to streamline the intake, development, delivery, and ongoing management of data products and business relationships.
  • Own internal Azure DevOps, GitHub, and other team collaboration sites for ongoing development management.
Requirements
  • 7 years' experience in data analytics, technical product/project/program management, or a related area.
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, business, engineering, computer science, information technology, Technical Product Management or closely related field, or an additional 2 years' experience/training in lieu of degree.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of business intelligence functions, including analytics, reporting, data cleansing, data quality and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of product management principles, practices, and tools.
  • Understanding of business requirements as defined by epics, features, user stories & releases.
  • Ability to work closely with business partners to derive and execute high-impact roadmaps.
  • In-depth understanding of database principles and experience in querying data from multiple sources using SQL, Python, Spark or other advanced query / database techniques.
  • Knowledge of visualization techniques, dashboard design, and decision support tools (such as Tableau, management systems).
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with a variety of team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay calm under pressure and be comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.
  • Possess a high level of accountability and ownership to bring assigned projects to meaningful outcomes.
  • Demonstrate experience in coaching and mentoring BI analysts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • 2+ years of airline/transportation/logistics experience.
  • Experience with Azure tools (mainly Databricks, Data Factory, and Synapse).
  • Experience with Tableau, Alteryx and SSMS or similar.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing systems and cloud architecture.
  • Experience with data transformation in cloud-based analytics environments.
  • Experience in working in data lake and unstructured data environments.
