Job Description:
The Mental Health Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication assessments, and medication management as part of the Behavioral Health Program for the Health Outcomes Center (HOC). Mental health services are provided in compliance with applicable policies and procedures and other outside regulatory laws and regulations.
- Provides initial psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for assigned patients. Maintains proper documentation of patient caseload and responds to patient requests in a timely manner.
- When assigned, assists with quality control of the Behavioral Health Program including compliance with accreditation standards. Provides exceptional clinical care based on patient satisfaction scores, clinical outcome measures, and chart audits. Participates in department chart audits as directed.
- Documents patient outcome measures. This includes, but is not limited to, PHQ-9, SIPAT, and other outcome measures implemented during practice and appropriate to demonstrate patient Behavioral Health status.
- Establishes and maintains a working relationship with community-based agencies in the best interest of the patient and HOC.
- Provides telepsychiatry services within the region, when applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a Doctoral Degree in Psychiatry from an accredited university.
- Must possess a current unrestricted license and DEA in the State of Texas.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.
- Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty.
- Knowledge of psychiatric treatment guidelines for common psychiatric diagnosis.
- Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association.
- Knowledge of computer system and ability to accurately input necessary information.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including those with substance and alcohol use disorders.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
