Child and Youth Behavioral Counselor
Leidos is seeking qualified licensed mental health professionals to become part of our Child and Youth Behavioral, Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) team. This role is essential in providing support to military families as they navigate the complexities of military life.
As a Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC), you will play a crucial role in delivering non-medical assistance, which encompasses counseling, consultation, and outreach services to eligible parents, children, and youth.
Our non-medical counseling approach is proactive, focusing on preventive measures to address and resolve issues before they escalate into more significant challenges. Military children often encounter unique emotional and situational hurdles due to the demands of military life, and this position allows you to provide timely support where it is most needed.
Key Responsibilities of the CYB-MFLC:
Engage with children aged 0-5 at Child Development Centers (CDCs) and provide support in before or after-school care settings for school-aged children, youth, and teens, focusing on educational activities and developmental appropriateness.
Actively observe, participate, and interact with children and youth; offer guidance and support to staff and parents; and demonstrate effective behavior management techniques.
Conduct presentations aimed at enhancing social skills and promoting social-emotional learning, which are vital for early childhood development. Encourage creativity and positivity through approved resources.
Establish strong relationships with parents and families by participating in community and installation events.
Assist children in adjusting to transitions, such as moving to a new school or home.
Engage in regular training sessions or other assigned contract activities.
Communicate trends and issues observed at the assigned installation to Team Leads.
Benefits of the CYB-MFLC Role:
No insurance claims to manage.
No progress notes required.
No treatment plans necessary.
An iPad will be provided for straightforward digital reporting, ensuring no Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI) is involved.
Enjoy paid federal holidays.
Access to unlimited behavioral healthcare training at no cost.
Reimbursement for job-related license renewal expenses.
Eligibility to participate in a 401K retirement plan.
Receive centralized support through a Counseling Center of Excellence, which offers best practices, expert speakers, and cutting-edge resources.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
Responding to urgent situations across various locations on military installations, navigating both indoor and outdoor environments, including rugged terrains.
Traveling to locations outside military bases, adapting to diverse physical settings.
Due to the nature of the role, compliance with specific site requirements may be necessary to work at designated locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD). Candidates must possess a valid independent license in the mental health field from any U.S. state or territory (LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist). Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
Ability to pass a basic background check for employment, including a Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly referred to as a Public Trust clearance.
Compensation Information:
The pay range for this position is $55,000 to $99,875. This range serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation. Various factors will be considered in determining the final offer, including job responsibilities, education, experience, and internal equity.
