Position Overview:
As a Controls Engineer, you will design and develop control systems aimed at automating various processes and machinery. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of control design and application tasks, including the implementation of control algorithms in software, development of software data file structures, terminal display formatting, and data transmission software, with a strong focus on programming using PLC languages, motion control logic, and other advanced programming languages. You will also develop, implement, and utilize debugging and maintenance software for the enhancement and upkeep of company products and associated equipment. Additionally, you will structure machine components for engineering projects and create machine drawings, including schematics, panel layouts, and other engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate in developing engineering and functional system specifications based on input from sales, customers, and technical teams.
  • Assist in programming hardware/software to support machine-based control systems.
  • Maintain program documentation related to diagnostics, information systems, data collection, and communication with peripheral equipment.
  • Provide documentation to product assembly and assist with the checkout, installation, and startup of basic mechanical functionality and control system software.
  • Design and develop basic electrical equipment.
  • Create basic schematics, assemblies, and bills of material with a focus on control systems architecture.
  • Travel to customer locations to support the commissioning and startup of industrial equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with automated control platforms such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, and B&R.
  • Understanding of Control & Instrumentation Theory and Application; experience with small computer and microprocessor programming techniques (Motion Control, PLC, and Visual C++ languages).
  • Ability to interpret basic electrical control schematics and other technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with agile scrum methodology is preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or controls engineering.
  • Typically, 2+ years of experience is preferred; however, recent graduates may be considered for entry-level positions.
