Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cytology Department Supervisor to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Cytology department, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and providing exceptional leadership to our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Cytology department, including management of staff, budgets, and laboratory functions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and proficiency standards for the laboratory department.
  • Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and site goals in collaboration with the leader.
  • Coordinate laboratory functions within the departments, including orientation and training of new staff, in-service training, and competency testing.
  • Comply with the ACL Quality Plan by implementing and monitoring quality indicators, reviewing laboratory results, and documenting corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment, direct corrective action, and maintain current knowledge of integrated computer systems.
  • Perform human resources responsibilities, including coaching on performance, completing performance reviews, and overall staff morale.
Requirements
  • Cytotechnologist (CT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC), preferred.
  • Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with required leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in a laboratory role in a Cytology environment with experience as a lead or senior level staff.
