The Inner City Education Foundation (ICEF) Public Schools has been dedicated to empowering students for over two decades, with the goal of equipping them to gain admission to and thrive at the nation's top 100 colleges and universities. ICEF operates a network of seven public, tuition-free institutions that cater to students from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade, focusing on some of Los Angeles' most underserved neighborhoods. Our established track record showcases a commitment to a rigorous college and career preparatory curriculum, complemented by enriching experiences in the arts and athletics, all aimed at fostering success in both life and career.
Position Responsibilities
At ICEF, we believe that the effectiveness of teachers and school leaders is pivotal to student success. Our culture reflects this belief, and we are committed to supporting our staff through various professional development opportunities.
Key Duties
- Instructional Strategies: Educators are expected to utilize diverse teaching methodologies that promote deep comprehension and tailored instruction for students of varying abilities, including those with special needs.
- Assessment Utilization: Educators will analyze ICEF Common Assessments and Unit Assessment outcomes to inform differentiated instruction for both struggling and advanced learners.
- Implementation of Educational Framework: Educators will adhere to ICEF's Essential Elements and Core Values, including fostering a college-going culture, engaging in college-level discourse, and integrating technology through blended learning approaches.
Classroom Environment:
- Teachers will cultivate a supportive, structured, and stimulating classroom atmosphere.
- Teachers are expected to maintain a clear discipline plan and document all interventions prior to referring students for further action.
Grading and Performance:
- Teachers will strive for excellence in alignment with ICEF's core values and instructional strategies as outlined in the ICEF Teacher Effectiveness Framework.
- Clear communication regarding class objectives, assignments, and grading criteria will be provided to students and parents.
- Teachers will utilize Illuminate for accurate record-keeping of attendance and academic performance, ensuring timely submission of report cards and assessments.
Collaboration:
- Teachers will work closely with the Special Education Team and ELL Support Staff to ensure curriculum accessibility for all students.
- Participation in monthly Parent Engagement Meetings and other school events is expected to foster meaningful communication with families.
Curriculum Development:
- Teachers will design an engaging curriculum aimed at helping students meet high-priority standards as per ICEF Instructional Guides and California Common Core Standards.
- Regular submission of lesson plans to the Principal is required.
Professional Development:
- Active participation in professional development sessions is expected.
- Teachers will adhere to professional dress codes and conduct standards while fulfilling their responsibilities during designated school hours.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the school Principal.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- A valid Single Subject California Teaching Credential is necessary.
- Possession of a Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language or Academic Development certificate is desirable.
- A passion for teaching in an urban educational setting is essential.
- Strong classroom management skills are required.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work effectively under pressure is crucial.
- Demonstrated success in working with students from historically underserved backgrounds is preferred.
