About the Role

The University of California, Merced seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff. This key position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Engagement and serves as the senior aide to the Vice Chancellor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Vice Chancellor on matters of strategic planning, resource allocation, personnel, processes, and policy.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development and implementation of operational, administrative, and personnel policies and procedures within the Division.
  • Represent the Vice Chancellor on institutional committees and serve as a delegated authority in the Vice Chancellor's absence.
  • Provide administrative leadership on initiatives, including the design and management of projects and programs, integral to student success.
  • Coordinate Divisional events and activities, working with other staff in the division.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible career path or related experience developing a variety of initiatives and programs within Higher Education or similarly complex organizations.

Critical knowledge, skills, and experience include advanced knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols, and procedures, as well as advanced skills in short- and long-range planning, program and project management, facilitation, and collaboration.
