Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States CAPI USA Full time
Job Overview

Become a Catalyst for Change as a Financial Empowerment and Homeownership Advisor

Are you dedicated to assisting refugees and immigrants in their pursuit of financial stability and independence? Do you aspire to create a positive impact within a vibrant, multicultural community? CAPI, a prominent nonprofit organization, is seeking a committed Financial Empowerment and Homeownership Advisor to be part of our Economic Empowerment team.

About CAPI: CAPI is devoted to supporting refugees and immigrants on their path to self-sufficiency. Annually, we serve over 7,000 new arrivals, proudly representing a diverse, multilingual, and immigrant-led nonprofit organization. Our primary service areas—Basic Needs, Economic Empowerment, and Civic Engagement—offer extensive support to Minnesota's Asian, East and West African, Latinx, and underserved US-born populations.

Your Role: As a Financial Empowerment and Homeownership Advisor, you will be instrumental in guiding individuals and families toward achieving their financial aspirations. Your responsibilities will include providing personalized coaching and group education, with a focus on budgeting, credit enhancement, homeownership, and financial planning. You will also collaborate with community partners to strengthen the continuum of financial services at CAPI, ensuring our clients have access to essential resources for their success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored financial and homeownership coaching to assist participants in budgeting, credit improvement, and accessing financial services.
  • Encourage and facilitate participation in CAPI's Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) activities, which include workshops, employment services, and benefits enrollment.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with community partners to broaden the reach and effectiveness of CAPI's financial services.
  • Monitor and assess participant outcomes utilizing CAPI's Salesforce data management system, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of our services.
  • Support CAPI's civic engagement initiatives, empowering our community through voter registration, outreach, and advocacy efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: A 2-year degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or 4+ years of experience in financial services or homeownership coaching.
  • Skills & Abilities: Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. Familiarity with financial and homeownership programs, budgeting, and credit enhancement is essential. Strong communication, project management, and cultural competency skills are crucial.
  • Certifications: A valid MN Driver's License and a commitment to obtaining HUD certification and other pertinent financial counseling certifications within the first year of employment.

Why Work with CAPI?

  • Meaningful Impact: Contribute to a team that is genuinely making a difference in the lives of immigrants and refugees.
  • Diverse & Inclusive Environment: Experience a multicultural workplace that values diversity and fosters an inclusive community.
  • Opportunities for Growth: Benefit from professional development and certification opportunities in financial counseling and homeownership education.
  • Flexible Work Schedule: Enjoy a role that may include occasional evening and weekend hours, providing flexibility in your workweek.

If you are ready to embrace a fulfilling role where you can leverage your skills to empower others and strengthen communities, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
