Job Summary

Crawford & Company is seeking a highly skilled Managing Executive General Adjuster to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for resolving complex commercial property losses, investigating damages, and negotiating adjustments with corporate management, brokers, lawyers, accountants, and public adjusters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate complex commercial property losses, including damages and liability
  • Negotiate adjustments with corporate management, brokers, lawyers, accountants, and public adjusters
  • Present evidence in legal proceedings and make sales calls to solicit new business
  • Manage a team of adjusters, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and evaluating performance
  • Develop and manage claims staff and adjusters, including setting performance objectives and monitoring and appraising employee performance
  • Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information required by clients, local, state, and federal government, and by Crawford & Company
  • Communicate adjustment recommendations to appropriate parties after determining liability
  • Control claim costs and recommend litigation when appropriate
  • Present evidence and serve as an expert witness at legal proceedings
  • Maintain company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and corporate quality standards
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education
Requirements
  • Requires two years of college or an equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous experience adjusting complex property or liability claims
  • Excellent knowledge of interpretation of insurance coverage, customs, and practices
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and mathematical ability
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Continuous interaction with clients, risk management personnel of corporations, brokers, high-level insurance company claims personnel, attorneys, accountants, and public adjusters to exchange information and to develop approaches to achieve objectives
  • Must be licensed as required by state and local jurisdictions
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must complete designated courses while in position to advance
