Position Summary:

The Universal Banker I plays a versatile role, fulfilling the duties of both a Teller and an Account Specialist. This position is crucial in delivering exceptional customer experiences to both existing and prospective clients. Individuals in this role are expected to possess a comprehensive understanding of all banking products and services. A positive demeanor, effective communication skills, and a strong work ethic are essential attributes for the Universal Banker.

Key Responsibilities:

Teller Responsibilities:

  • Process deposits and loan payments
  • Cash checks, savings withdrawals, and Savings Bonds
  • Handle change orders for commercial clients
  • Record and process night drop and mail deposits
  • Issue cashiers checks and gift cards
  • Manage online transfers
  • Balance cash drawer, vault, and ATM
  • Process coins through the coin counter
  • Facilitate customer access to Safe Deposit Boxes
  • Process and balance teller capture
  • Verify new account entries in the core system
  • Provide customer support for stop payments, outgoing collections, address changes, etc.
  • Order and accept foreign currency
  • Review weekly non-customer lists for compliance
  • Perform other assigned duties

Account Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Open and prepare documentation for new and revised accounts
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all products and services
  • Process check orders
  • Reconcile and prepare financial reports
  • Conduct safe-deposit duties
  • Draft account correspondence
  • Assist clients with inquiries and issues
  • Provide Notary Services
  • Prepare documentation for fraudulent activities as necessary
  • Manage PIN changes, limit increases, and debit card issuance
  • Close accounts as required
  • Process stop payments
  • Handle dormant account releases
  • Conduct document scanning
  • Process wire transfers
  • Assist clients with electronic banking concerns
  • Perform other assigned duties

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
  • Ability to manage large volumes of currency with precision and speed
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent typing skills
  • Ability to obtain a Notary Public Commission
  • Capability to multitask effectively
  • Understanding of various deposit account types and relevant regulations
  • Prior banking experience is preferred but not mandatory
