About the Role

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Gymnastics Instructor to join our team as an Expanded Learning Opportunity Enrichment Instructor. This is a part-time position that will provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for program participants in the Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELO) classes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lesson Planning and Instruction: Prepare lesson plans with a natural progression appropriate to the age and ability of the student, in conjunction with support from Y experts as needed/required.
  • Program Training and Compliance: Complete program training along with site staff in preparation for program session, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Gymnastics Programming: Responsible for the instruction of Gymnastics programming, including planning, leading, and assisting group activities.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Enforce all safety rules and ensure that all equipment and supplies are available and maintained throughout the program.
  • Record Keeping and Communication: Keep accurate records of class attendance and participant's progress throughout each session, and communicate with parents and supervisor regarding participant's performance.
Requirements
  • Age and Experience: Minimum age of 18 or older, with six months or more of Gymnastics Instruction experience preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Positive attitude and previous experience with children and diverse populations, knowledge and skills in the area of agreed upon instruction and related equipment set-up, as well as the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
  • Training and Certification: Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
  • Background and Reference Checks: Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
