About the Role

At Ally, we're committed to creating a workplace where our people can thrive. As an Android Principal Engineer on our Digital Solutions' mobile team, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality native Android mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners and internal/external technical teams to define specifications for significant new projects and perform professional software development tasks.
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products, services, and processes, including:
    • Providing subject matter expertise for the Android platform and writing high-quality, versatile code.
    • Partnering with external technology teams to design and integrate best-in-class solutions.
    • Conducting and participating in code review sessions to ensure quality and performance.
    • Supporting system integration and user acceptance testing resources by providing timely defect analysis, remediation, and resolution.
    • Delivering secure solutions, including remediation of items discovered in security scanning processes.
    • Staying up-to-date with the latest mobile technology landscape by researching, experimenting, and analyzing emerging technologies for use within Ally's mobile channel.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering cohesive, resilient, and high-performing native Android mobile applications.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Math, or related engineering fields or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to provide expert-level support and maintenance of core software functionality to solve problems and implement changes.
  • Strong sense of ownership, passion to build quality products for massive scale in a collaborative, agile environment, and excitement to learn.
  • Interest in new technologies and vision to identify opportunities for improvement within the team and broader business unit.
