Position Summary:

The Senior General Liability Claims Specialist is responsible for investigating, assessing, resolving, and settling complex claims with minimal oversight. This role involves evaluating coverage, liability, and damages while establishing appropriate reserves. Individuals in this position typically have claims reserve and settlement authority of up to $10,000 for liability and/or $25,000 for workers' compensation or more.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize sound judgment and decision-making skills to analyze claims exposure and determine the best course of action for claim resolution.
  2. Engage extensively with all parties involved in the claims process to facilitate effective communication.
  3. Clearly articulate action plans and strategies for progressing cases toward resolution.
  4. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the claims file process through clear documentation and responses to inquiries.
  5. Process claims in accordance with corporate policies, client requirements, and industry best practices, while adhering to all relevant statutory and ethical standards.
  6. Ensure compliance with carrier reporting and threshold mandates.
  7. Identify and pursue opportunities for excess insurance recoveries, managing a full caseload with a proven ability to handle high-severity cases.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant claims experience.
  • Appropriate licensing and/or certification in all states where claims are managed.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and practices, along with proficiency in claims-related software.

Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree.

Analytical skills are essential for making informed decisions and resolving complex issues related to claims management.
