SUMMARY OF ROLE
Under general supervision, the Clinical Laboratory Technologist I conducts a variety of clinical laboratory tests to generate data essential for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, adhering to established protocols and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform clinical laboratory analyses accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of laboratory techniques and methodologies.
- Calibrate and conduct basic maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Ensure compliance with quality control measures and safety regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Formal education equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college) with knowledge in a specialized field. Preferred: High School Diploma.
EXPERIENCE
Less than 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective interaction with healthcare personnel and external contacts.
CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess one of the following certifications: MLS - Certified Medical Lab Scientist, ASCP MLT - Medical Lab Technician, or MLT - Certified Medical Lab Technician.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must pass the certification exam within one year of hire. Eligible certifications include MLT (ASCP or AMT), MT (ASCP or AMT), or MLS (ASCP).
