Job Summary

The Cytologist is responsible for preparing and screening all cytologic specimens, assisting on fine needle procedures, and interpreting findings under the direction of a pathologist. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory policies and procedures, as well as the ability to follow regulatory agency requirements such as CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIA.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and screen all cytologic specimens
  • Assist on fine needle procedures
  • Interpret findings under the direction of a pathologist
  • Follow laboratory policies and procedures
  • Ensure test results meet quality control program requirements

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in cytology or a related field
  • Cytologist - Board Registered or specialist in Cytology by recognized credentialing board
