Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Community Development to join our team at Kitsap County. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of community development initiatives, policies, and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive community development plans and strategies to promote economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability.
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals to ensure effective delivery of community development services, including planning, zoning, and building inspection.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including community groups, businesses, and government agencies, to build partnerships and advance community development goals.
  • Develop and manage budgets, grants, and other resources to support community development initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with local, state, and national trends and best practices in community development and apply this knowledge to inform policy and program decisions.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in community development, urban planning, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful community development initiatives and programs.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
