Position Overview:

Skowhegan Savings is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Personal Banker within our organization. This is a full-time position that requires onsite presence. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts.

Role Summary:

As a Personal Banker, you will report directly to the Branch Manager and be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while executing various banking transactions. These transactions include deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, selling money orders, processing loan payments, and providing assistance to customers both in person and over the phone. Your role is crucial in fostering and maintaining strong customer relationships. A successful Personal Banker is knowledgeable about the Bank's offerings and proactively suggests additional services to meet the financial needs of customers.

As you progress in your career, you may take on more complex responsibilities, particularly as a Personal Banker III or IV, where you will manage a comprehensive range of banking services while focusing on nurturing customer relationships for clients with basic deposit and lending requirements. Personal Bankers III are expected to efficiently handle both routine and complex transactions while adhering to the Bank's standards for customer experience. You will also contribute to the Bank's overall sales growth by engaging customers in discussions about their financial goals and recommending suitable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome customers and create a friendly, service-oriented atmosphere.
  • Accurately process customer transactions in a fast-paced environment while ensuring cash drawer balance and compliance with Bank policies.
  • Maintain a solid cash balancing record.
  • Generate new business opportunities and enhance existing customer relationships through cross-selling of Bank products and services.
  • Follow up with customers after opening new accounts to ensure satisfaction.
  • Build customer loyalty through exceptional service and relationship development.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns by providing effective solutions or referring them to the appropriate department.
  • Conduct end-of-day activities and branch proofing.
  • Manage cash within ATMs, recyclers, and night depositories.
  • Prepare required reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Utilize the Bank's Customer Relationship Management tool for managing customer interactions.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.
  • Engage in community events to promote the Bank's presence.
  • Work on a rotating Saturday schedule as needed.
  • Train for additional roles within the Personal Banker function.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in retail banking, lending, sales, customer service, or cash handling.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience in teller operations or cash handling is advantageous.
  • Outgoing, confident, and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Excellent multitasking and communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer usage.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
