Chef Instructor

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chef Instructor - Cooking Education Specialist to join our team at Common Threads. As a key member of our education team, you will be responsible for teaching hands-on cooking classes and nutrition education to children, parents, and teachers in school kitchens and community spaces.

• Teach cooking skills and nutrition education to diverse audiences, both in-person and virtually
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote healthy eating habits and culinary skills
• Collaborate with school and partner organization staff to ensure successful program implementation
• Administer pre- and post-surveys to evaluate program effectiveness
• Manage paperwork and documentation related to program activities

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., nutrition, culinary arts, education)
• 2+ years of experience in teaching, cooking, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of nutrition and cooking principles
• Ability to work with diverse audiences and adapt to changing program needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods

• Culinary school or food industry experience
• Experience working with children or adults with diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Fluency in Spanish and English
• Experience with virtual teaching platforms and technology
