Job Summary

As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students of various ages (K-12) who require individualized support due to learning, mental, emotional, or physical disabilities. Your primary goal will be to adapt lessons and teaching methods to meet the unique needs of your students, as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 plans.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lessons for students with disabilities
  • Teach in mainstream classrooms or self-contained SPED classrooms, depending on student needs
  • Regularly collaborate with school-based behavioral health professionals, counselors, therapists, and paraprofessionals
  • Perform student evaluations, document interventions and progress, and record observations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited university
  • Prior special education teaching experience is preferred but not required
  • Teaching certification in the state in which you are applying
  • Special education teaching certification and credentials
  • BLS certification
