Job Summary:
The Certified Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with respiratory issues. This professional collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive respiratory care from initial evaluation through therapeutic interventions.
Under the supervision of experienced physicians, respiratory therapists are tasked with delivering high-quality care that adheres to established protocols and guidelines.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- New Jersey Respiratory License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Certification as a CRT or RRT within one year of employment
Preferred:
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are highly recommended.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and related treatments as per physician directives or approved protocols. Conduct patient rounds to provide necessary care.
- Evaluate and interpret patient conditions using laboratory and radiological results alongside vital signs to determine appropriate care based on individual needs.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient records in accordance with departmental policies, including assessments, care plans, and educational efforts.
- Exhibit proficiency in the use of oxygen therapy, BiPAP, CPAP, and High-Flow Nasal Cannulas (HFNC) across various patient demographics (neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adults). This includes device selection, application, operational checks, and therapy effectiveness assessments.
- Demonstrate expertise in both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation techniques, ensuring thorough assessments of therapy effectiveness throughout shifts and reporting any adverse reactions.
- Adhere to all departmental, infection control, and safety regulations.
Maintain knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and relevant standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Organize and prioritize tasks effectively to meet care demands. Exhibit the ability to work within a diverse team and interact constructively with colleagues.- Perform emergency airway management and maintain ventilation during critical situations. If certified, establish and manage arterial lines and conduct arterial punctures for sample collection.
- Complete all mandatory competencies and online training within designated timeframes.
- Participate in ongoing education through internal and external programs as part of professional development.
