Role Summary
The EHS Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies at our facility. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and to foster a culture of safety and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute the site's EHS strategy.
2. Oversee EHS operations to guarantee adherence to regulatory standards and manage permit renewals.
3. Supervise waste management, recycling, and treatment initiatives.
4. Provide training and support to team members as necessary.
5. Analyze EHS issues to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold EHS management and monitoring systems.
7. Enforce EHS protocols and procedures.
8. Coordinate with management for scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
9. Identify opportunities for reducing environmental impact, including waste generation and resource consumption.
10. Maintain comprehensive documentation for EHS activities and reporting.
11. Develop and sustain hazard control programs to minimize contamination and accidents.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline is required, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience. Candidates should possess a robust understanding of applicable EHS regulations (including Title V, Hazardous Waste, NPDES, SARA, HazWOPER, etc.).
Ideal Candidate Attributes
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with an analytical mindset for data collection and integrity verification. Proficiency in Computer Aided Design and Microsoft Office is preferred.
