Safety and Support Specialist

About the JobThe Safety and Support Associate plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of staff, program participants, and visitors at our Interim Housing site. This position requires proactive monitoring of facilities and grounds, building rapport with participants, and providing assistance during crisis situations. Additionally, this role involves implementing security and support systems, protocols, and policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in maintaining a safe environment by observing facilities and grounds, utilizing de-escalation strategies, and engaging participants in maintaining safety.
- Coordinate with the onsite case management team to provide support to the interim housing site.
- Collaborate with contracted security agencies (if applicable) to ensure the site's safety.
- Conduct regular site rounds and communicate any discrepancies or concerns.
- Assist the Associate Director in drafting written documentation regarding site safety.
- Respond to security and/or crisis situations using non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation strategies.
We are seeking candidates who possess analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with others. Key qualifications include:
- Analytical skills and attention to detail for gathering and interpreting data, identifying trends, and informing decision-making.
- Collaboration and teamwork for working effectively with colleagues, participants, and stakeholders.
- Effective communication skills for conveying information clearly and concisely.
- Creativity and initiative for taking action and making decisions without prompting.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for analyzing situations and making logical decisions.
Prior experience working with vulnerable populations, security, and/or de-escalation/nonviolent crisis intervention is highly desirable.
Mandatory RequirementsCandidates must meet the following requirements:
- Have employment eligibility verification.
- Have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid training.
- Successfully complete a tuberculosis test, background screening, and drug test as a condition of hire.
As this position requires driving, all candidates must:
- Have reliable transportation.
- A valid driver's license.
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties.
- Be able to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage.
