Caton Construction Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Grade Foreman to lead our roadway project in Chesterfield, Virginia.

Job Summary:

The Grade Foreman is a field position responsible for organizing and leading a crew to safely and efficiently perform mass earthwork and excavating activities, balancing highway and road construction/reconstruction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans
  • Plan, organize and lead grading crew
  • Producing schedules and monitor attendance of crew
  • Allocating general and daily responsibilities
  • Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
  • Schedule aggregate material quantities and deliveries
  • Determine trucking needs and schedule truck
  • Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
  • Ensure labor and other resources are adequate
  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
  • Resolve problems when they arise
  • Report on progress to managers, engineers etc.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch, hours may vary. Work may be local or out of town in which case overnight stays are required. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as construction foreman
  • Diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.) a plus
