Quality Engineer Job Description

Acara Solutions, an Aleron Company, is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join our team in Lexington, NC. As a Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our metal fabrication products and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all necessary documentation for ISO and QA certifications.
  • Primary contact for all customer quality concerns, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
  • Prepare documentation for testing and analysis of product quality.
  • Analyze reports, specifications, and prints to identify quality issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement process improvements, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, and inspection documents.
  • Interpret Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) and perform Faro Arm programming and measuring.
  • Inspect in-process and finished weld assemblies, troubleshoot quality-related production problems, and track and troubleshoot internal and external non-conformances.
  • Perform root cause analysis, develop corrective actions, and determine key characteristics for product and process improvements.
  • Prepare prototype sample submission packages, review customer specifications, and guide relevant team members.
  • Perform internal audits, contact customer plants, and maintain high levels of housekeeping and compliance with health and safety rules.
  • Follow all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 5+ years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Detailed working knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection, identification of defects, and non-destructive/destructive testing.
  • Thorough knowledge of product development and steel fabrication processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and small progressive manufacturing disciplines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents (Blueprints, specifications, etc.).
  • Excellent planner and implementer with the ability to make things happen.
  • Ability to promote a culture of innovation and keep employees positively motivated.
  • Excellent command of the English language, verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
