The specialist will utilize specific tools and databases to accurately enter, update, and maintain essential information. This position also contributes to the development of standards for information management that support patient records and enhances ROI workflows within the Health Information Management (HIM) Division.
Key Responsibilities- Handle requests for information in a manner that adheres to HIPAA guidelines from both patients and third-party entities.
- Verify that proper authorization is secured and maintain precision in data processing.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of record content while providing professional assistance to clients.
- Maintain and update work queues, ensuring accuracy in processing amendments requested by patients.
- Possess knowledge of system policies and procedures to effectively manage the termination of patient/provider relationship notifications.
- Carry out additional tasks as required to support the department's objectives.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
- Experience: 1-3 years in a Health Information Management department with experience in Electronic Health Records (EHR) is essential. Preference for candidates with 3-5 years in an acute or clinical care environment.
- Licensure/Certification: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification is preferred.
