About the Role

Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Aide to join our team for the 2024/2025 school year in the Buellton, CA area. As a School Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting students with instructional and behavioral needs under the supervision of the special education department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills.
  • Assist teachers with lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
  • Accompany students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other school professionals to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
  • May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques under the direction of the teacher and/or other school professionals.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation.
  • Report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
Requirements
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
