About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Fitter to join our team at Madison Gas & Electric. As a Pipe Fitter, you will be responsible for performing various construction, operation, and maintenance functions in our Gas Distribution Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installs routine gas services, taps, and bags gas mains
  • Performs welding work, including installation of gas service tees, butt welds of pipe, and fabrication of meter connections
  • Conducts maintenance and repair welding on gas distribution facilities
  • Works on pressured or unpressured gas distribution facilities
Requirements
  • One year's experience as a Pipe Layer or equivalent training or experience satisfactory to the Company
  • Demonstrated proficiency in gas distribution construction, operation, and maintenance
  • Wisconsin driver's license
  • Ability to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions
  • Temperament and personality suitable for working as a member of a crew or work team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Qualification as a welder in accordance with Madison Gas and Electric Company Gas Distribution Department welder qualification procedures
  • Knowledge of the Company's gas distribution system, equipment, and apparatus
  • Leadership ability, initiative, work planning, and organization
