Job Title: Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Southern Veterinary Partners. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, including administering medications, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for surgery.
  • Provide compassionate care to clients and patients, including answering questions and addressing concerns.
  • Assist with medical and surgical procedures, including preparing patients for surgery and maintaining asepsis.
  • Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fecal samples.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes and centrifuges.
  • Prepare and administer medications, including vaccinations and injections.
  • Assist with client communication, including explaining treatment plans and providing estimates.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous animal care experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
