Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a School Crossing Guard. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians in school crosswalks and monitoring traffic flow to prevent accidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control traffic flow to provide a safe environment for pedestrians, particularly children and vulnerable individuals.
  • Interact with the public to enforce traffic control measures and provide guidance on safe pedestrian practices.
  • Remain vigilant and report any safety or health concerns to your supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team's efforts in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills to guide students and pedestrians through crosswalks.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and firmly with pedestrians while enforcing traffic control measures.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to detect potential safety and health issues and report them to your supervisor.
  • Ability to use portable traffic signs.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent standing and walking while working in and controlling traffic.
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to high noise levels, and exposure to gases, fumes, and dust.
  • Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication.
