Job Summary:

The Recruiting Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for the District. This role will involve researching, sourcing, and recruiting candidates, as well as processing and onboarding new employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote positive relationships between the community, schools, and the Human Resources department by providing friendly, informed, and efficient assistance to a diverse pool of applicants, administrators, and school personnel.
  • Source and recruit candidates by using databases, regional and national publications, social media, and other sources.
  • Identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the position needed, industry standards, and the needs of the District.
  • Process requisition requests, ensuring all required documentation and justification is provided prior to posting positions.
  • Develop, format, and proofread or revise all job postings prior to posting for content and accuracy.
  • Coordinate any necessary activities and paperwork related to position selection processes.
  • Screen candidates' resumes and job applications to ensure basic qualifications are met prior to providing managerial access to applicants.
  • Monitor open positions and communicate with Hiring Administrators regarding the status of positions during posting, screening, and hiring processes.
  • Track hiring metrics, including time-to-hire, time-to-fill, and source of hire.
  • Track and report on current openings to district administrators as needed, and follow up as necessary to ensure hiring paperwork is received and close postings as required.
  • Receive, review, and maintain all interview documentation from buildings as required by law.
  • Provide information to applicants regarding the selection process and the status of their applications.
  • Compile data and issue reports as requested by district administrators and as needed.
  • Administer pre-employment and/or required tests as needed.
  • Train and advise hiring managers on interviewing techniques and assessment methods.
  • Notify designated applicants of hiring decision(s), including offers of employment.
  • Maintain applicant and employee files, and purge files as scheduled.
  • Process sexual misconduct forms and maintain accurate tracking in HR Systems of employee CPR certifications and para educator education.
  • Conduct regular new employee onboarding and orientation training.
  • Assist and cross-train with other employees in the department.
  • Establish and maintain data and filing systems to provide accurate, timely, and complete information as appropriate.
  • Participate in any other Human Resources projects and assignments as requested or needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Human Resources and/or Hiring or HR Certificate Required.
  • Bachelor's in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience preferred.
  • High level of attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to complete work in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various recruiting techniques and experience in online/social media recruiting.
  • Proficient with a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, and other web-based programs.
  • Ability to identify routine problems and propose feasible solutions, make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Must be team-oriented but also able to work independently.
  • High level of interpersonal skills in handling sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services and demonstrated ability to work positively with staff and patrons.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workload and work under pressure in an environment with multiple, simultaneous tasks.
  • Knowledge of state and federal HR laws.

Terms of Employment and Salary:

As outlined by the Policies and Procedures of Mead School District. Mead policies and Procedures can be accessed online at https://www.meadschools.org.

The salary range for the position is: Min $29.06/hr - Max $30.84/hr. Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position. Previous relevant experience may result in higher step placement within the posted range.

A typical work year consists of 260 days, which includes 13 paid holidays. The individual number of days may vary by position as posted. Employees working less than 260 days will receive holiday pay for the scheduled holidays within the months worked. Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance.

A maximum of three (3) days of annual leave are provided for all employees based on the employee's scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours. Unused Annual Leave is cashed out every July. Full-Time Employees working year-round (260 days) shall accumulate up to 25 Days (200 hours) of vacation annually. Up to 40 hours may be cashed out annually in July if the balance is above 240 hours. Balances over 280 hours as of July 1 will be forfeited prior to the new year's accrual.

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability.

Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
