Position Overview:

Langan is seeking a Traffic Engineer to become an integral part of our dynamic team. This role involves conducting traffic and parking studies, transportation planning, traffic event management, and roadway design projects. You will collaborate with a team of traffic engineers on exciting projects across various sectors, including sports, healthcare, education, distribution, and commercial developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute planning and permitting for traffic and transportation engineering projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive traffic analyses for impact studies.
  • Supervise field staff in collecting traffic volume and regulatory data.
  • Perform preliminary traffic assessments to identify critical issues at the project concept stage.
  • Utilize engineering principles and advanced mathematics in your work.
  • Draft and review reports, including traffic impact and parking studies.
  • Employ engineering software (SYNCHRO, HCS, etc.) to create design documents with proficiency.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and reviewing project budgets collaboratively.
  • Lead the preparation and modification of engineering documents, including reports and designs.
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers and interns as needed.
  • Conduct field inspections as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • FE/EIT certification; eligibility to apply for PE exam upon meeting experience requirements.
  • 3-6 years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering, including impact studies and roadway design.
  • Familiarity with local permitting processes.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and MUTCD is essential.
  • Capability to mentor and train entry-level staff.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site access.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as project schedules require.
