Job Title: Transfusion Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Transfusion Specialist to join our team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a key member of our transfusion medicine team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of blood transfusions to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor patients remotely for transfusion practice and respond appropriately to clinical alerts.
  • Provide quality and responsible patient care, practicing autonomously within the scope of professional nursing or physician assistant practice.
  • Suggest and/or provide treatment or management plan adjustments/additions for patients within the scope of practice.
  • Consult with supervising physicians as needed and follow all standard operating procedures, policies, and instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with transfusion medicine physicians, laboratory staff, nursing, providers, and patients.
  • Document clinical duties performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform quality assurance audits on data related to transfusion practice or laboratory evaluation.
  • Provide education to the MD Anderson community members and patients related to transfusion medicine and laboratory evaluation.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Current license and/or certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
