Job Responsibilities:
Below is a summary of the key responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Evaluate and interpret data related to insurance policies, including rating, quoting, binding, and invoicing.
  • Prepare and model new and renewal business with minimal oversight from an Underwriter.
  • Conduct rating tasks as directed by the Underwriter.
  • Review policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, etc., resolve discrepancies, and implement necessary changes.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of Underwriting Analysts within the team.
  • Process policy servicing requests, including endorsements, audits, and other company requests.
  • Invoice and manage new business and renewal binders, premium-bearing endorsements, and cancellations in accordance with internal and company guidelines.
  • Establish new submissions in the clearance system and manage them per established procedures.
  • Generate cancellation and non-renewal notices in compliance with statutory and contractual requirements under the guidance of the assigned Underwriter.
  • Manage underwriting files for accounts without issued policies and handle them according to company procedures.
  • Maintain the pend/suspense system as per established protocols.
  • Keep account files organized in accordance with company policy.
  • Respond to inquiries from insurance producers regarding accounts and technical questions.
  • Propose improvements to internal processes along with potential solutions.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in business or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of five years of prior experience in an Underwriting Analyst role within the insurance sector.
  • State-specific Insurance License is preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze essential components of insurance policies and certificates.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes, including classification principles, rating, contract administration, and property valuations.
  • Knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting and rating practices.
  • Proficiency in using company automation systems.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with clients.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Stay updated on current trends in the insurance industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight trips.
Preferred:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
  • No unusual physical demands.
