A Licensed Nurse Assistant (LNA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in the healthcare team, primarily tasked with delivering supportive nursing care under the guidance of a licensed nurse, adhering to the regulations set forth by the Nurse Practice Act of the State Board of Nursing.

This role is accountable to the licensed nurse and, in institutional environments, reports to the designated authority.

Qualifications:
1. A valid and current license issued by the State Board of Nursing is required.
2. Candidates should exhibit maturity and responsibility.
3. A foundational understanding of disease processes and basic personal care standards is essential.
4. Knowledge of emergency response actions is necessary.
5. Effective communication skills with clients, their families, and the Nursing Supervisor are required.
6. Candidates must maintain good physical and mental health.
7. Completion of the agency's employment process is mandatory.

Duties:
The responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
1. Delivering direct personal nursing care to clients who are acute, sub-acute, chronically ill, or in recovery.
2. Implementing personal care in accordance with the established care plan.
3. Monitoring and assessing the client's health status.
4. Reporting any changes in the client's condition to the supervisor.
5. Accurately documenting Activities of Daily Living and submitting vital signs and weights promptly.
6. Collaborating effectively with facility administration and staff.
7. Engaging in ongoing educational opportunities.

Performance:
Competence is demonstrated when the LNA/CNA:
1.

Exhibits the ability to provide nursing care in line with the State Nurse Practice Act and the agency's policies and procedures.

2. Implements the client's care plan effectively.
3. Accurately monitors the client's condition.
4. Demonstrates practical communication skills.
5. Records pertinent information and submits documentation in accordance with agency policy.
6. Is capable of lifting over 50 lbs. This position is contracted and involves travel.
