POSITION SUMMARY:
All Together Recovery LLC (ATR) offers various levels of ASAM SUD/BHSO care, which includes recovery housing, educational programs, job training, and employment services, along with other recovery-related support for families in both for-profit and non-profit settings. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) plays a crucial role in overseeing the medical care of clients participating in ATR. As a licensed independent practitioner, the APRN is tasked with managing health concerns and coordinating healthcare services for clients in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing standards of care. This includes assessing health status, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, implementing care strategies, and evaluating client progress. Additionally, the APRN will facilitate evidence-based treatment modalities for substance use disorders through group therapy sessions.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a valid Kentucky driver's license.
- Attend all necessary staff meetings and conduct weekly medical team meetings.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all ATR policies, rules, and procedures.
- Exhibit servant leadership qualities.
- Maintain integrity in all professional interactions.
- Communicate effectively and respond promptly to both verbal and written communications.
- Prescribe detoxification treatments, including comfort measures, hydration, and necessary medications for severe symptoms.
- Manage chronic medical conditions by referring clients to appropriate healthcare providers, adjusting medications, and obtaining necessary diagnostic tests.
- Assess and treat acute medical issues or injuries.
- Supervise the medication room.
- Monitor and evaluate client medical progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Conduct assessments on new intakes to identify medical conditions that may affect recovery and determine the need for prescription medications.
- Collaborate as a therapeutic team member in appropriate counseling situations for both staff and clients.
- Educate clients and staff on disease processes and self-management of chronic conditions.
- Ensure all staff maintain current certifications in CPR/first aid and communicable diseases/bloodborne pathogens education, as well as any medical-related continuing education units.
- Maintain relationships with local pharmacies, medical/dental care providers, and healthcare facilities.
- Provide necessary screenings for clients and staff, such as TB skin tests or immunizations.
- Offer on-call coverage as required.
- Oversee all medical staff activities.
- Assume the role of primary care provider for clients in the 2.1 level of care, managing their medical needs while in the program.
- Lead group therapy sessions as directed by the program manager.
- Document notes in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Initiate necessary policies and procedures related to medical processes, medication management, and infection control.
- Ensure medical evaluations and treatments adhere to national standards of care for specific illnesses or conditions.
- Serve as the on-call contact for ATR for two months each year and as needed.
- Maintain all required professional licenses.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND/EDUCATION:
- A minimum of a master's degree in nursing and a current APRN license with at least two years of experience.
- A valid unrestricted license from the Kentucky Licensing Board is required.
- Experience in medical substance use disorder treatment is preferred.
- Familiarity with various funding streams and collaboration with internal grant and billing departments is advantageous.
- Skills in crisis intervention and conflict resolution are beneficial.
